Все не так, как нам говорят: существует скрытая сторона реальности, вселенная тайных планов и секретных операций. Это привычный образ мыслей людей, склонных не доверять официальной информации. Так рождаются легенды о том, как было «на самом деле»: о съемках высадки на Луну в кинопавильоне Аризоны и фармацевтическом лобби, о генетически модифицированных продуктах и событиях 11 сентября 2001 г., о египетских пирамидах, инопланетянах, рептилоидах, политических заговорах и новом мировом порядке. Но верят в небылицы совсем не обязательно малообразованные люди и маргиналы - перед коспирологией бессильны и президенты, и нобелевские лауреаты. Анализируя теории заговора и их последствия, Роб Бразертон, ведущий специалист по психологии теорий заговоров, не пытается разбираться в том, где правда, а где выдумки. Его интересует, почему для нас так притягательна конспирология, и объяснение он находит в природе человека. А путешествие в наш внутренний мир увлекательнее самых неправдоподобных историй мироустройства.
