В 2006 году, как отмечалось ранее, мы опубликовали в JAMA показательное исследование, в котором сравнивали протоколы клинических испытаний промышленности с опубликованными отчетами и нашли, что ученые в общем случае связаны по рукам и ногам сотрудничеством с фармацевтической промышленностью, что не раскрывалось ни в одной из публикаций56. Когда я перевел нашу статью на датский и опубликовал в «Журнале Датской медицинской ассоциации» – Ugeskrift for Læger57, Датская Ассоциация фармацевтической промышленности заявила, что «потрясена и разгневана этой критикой», которую не может признать. Хотя Ассоциация отлично знает, что пишут в протоколах компании-члены и, следовательно, – что наши результаты правильны, Ассоциация тем не менее преследовала нас, подав беспочвенный иск, обвиняя нас в научном мошенничестве и намеренном искажении данных. Она послала письма руководству больницы Rigshospitalet, где мы вчетвером работали, в Корпорацию больниц Копенгагена, Центральный Научный комитет по этике, Датскую медицинскую ассоциацию, Датское лекарственное агентство, Министерство здравоохранения, Министерство науки и «Журнал Датской медицинской ассоциации». Спасибо, что пощадили королеву и премьер-министра! Но даже после того, как мы были оправданы, Ассоциация продолжала настаивать, что мы виновны. Лжи ничто не помеха.
Мы написали об этом, но юрист BMJ беспокоился о возможном судебном процессе, и поэтому нашу статью по-своему переписал журналист58.
